Guided walk: discover the birds, butterflies and blossoms at Hodbarrow
Discover incredible bird life, butterflies, and flora at this old industrial site - now a vital haven for wildlife
Have you ever explored RSPB Hodbarrow?
This spectacular nature reserve on the old iron ore mine now boasts lagoons and grasslands and supports an incredible array of protected birds, flora and fauna.
BOOM Species Officer, Ellie Kent, and RSPB staff member will lead a guided walk around the Reserve highlighting some of the species and plans for the site against the spectacular coastal and mountain backdrop.
The Back on our Map (BOOM) project is planning to use the site to introduce a rare species of butterfly, the small blue, whilst Morecambe Bay Partnership works to protect the incredibly rich bird life alongside the RSPB.
Join this free event to explore the site - all welcome. Booking Required.
The walk covers an exposed site and some rough terrain. Please wear suitable footwear, and bring waterproofs, warm layers or sun hat and sun-cream depending on the weather. Please bring any drink or snacks you require. There are no toilets at the reserve - nearest are Haverigg Foreshore.
